University of Tsukuba Senior High School in Sakado (UTSS), or people called Tsukusaka Senior High School. Established in 1994 as a high school with an integrated curriculum, Tsukusaka has continued to evolve to meet the educational needs of today’s modern era. In 2019 recognized globally as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School and a partner of World Wide Learning (WWL), Tsukusaka is committed to nurturing students who are curious and empathetic. In addition to foundational academic knowledge, the school emphasizes the development of “integrated skills” such as logical thinking, effective self-expression, and proactive problem-solving. By providing an environment rich in hands-on experiences, overseas field trips, and interactions with diverse communities, Tsukusaka offers its students the opportunity to deeply explore their identities and embrace intercultural understanding to build a more peaceful world.

Curriculum System

Tsukusaka presents a very enlightened form of education and environment that will go beyond the walls of the traditional classroom setting. Its curriculum has been established on two pillars including Global Learning and Creative Learning. Also, Tsukusaka highly promotes student independence and critical thinking with project-based programs like Tsukusaka Global Action Project (T-GAP), personalized elective training, and student graduations research. Education in such a dynamic setting is associated with highly motivated and independent learners who actively train to be problem-solvers in the future.
